A copy of this plan can
be obtained at City Hall. The plan contains information which the City views as security -sensitive;
consequently, the full WHPP is not available online. The action steps outlined by the plan are discussed
below:
Well Management: Encourage proper sealing of all unused wells and proper management of existing
wells in the DWSMA.
Potential Contaminant Source Properties: Provide information to owners of properties that may
contain a Class V well. Provide information to owners that will encourage proper operation and
maintenance of storage tanks. Periodically obtain information on the status of wells and storage tanks
from regulating agencies to maintain an up-to-date database of potential contaminant sources.
Public Education: Distribute the Mounds View Consumer Confidence Report and information on the
proper operation and maintenance of private wells. Post WHPP information on the City of Mounds View
website. Work with the cities of Arden Hills, Blaine, Lexington, New Brighton, and Shoreview to identify
appropriate public education opportunities.
Land Use Management: Incorporate wellhead and source water protection into the City's planning
process.
Continued Data Collection: Record static and pumping water levels in the Mounds View municipal
wells. Compile additional geologic and hydrogeologic data as it becomes available. Use new
geologic/hydrogeologic data to update the groundwater flow model used to delineate the Wellhead
Protection Area (WHPA). Compile updated information on potential contaminant sources.
City of Mounds View 25
Local Surface Water Management Plan Stantec Project No. 193804166
(5 5tantec
