MOUNDS VIEW
City of Mounds View Staff Report
Item No. 5.D.
Meeting Date: October 12, 2020
Type of Business: Council Consent
City Administrator Review:
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Mark Beer, Finance Director
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9319 Authorizing the Refund of License Fees for
Businesses Forced to Close During the Stay -At -Home Order
The City Council at the September 28'h meeting expressed a desire to provide additional
assistance to those businesses that were forced to close as a result of the Stay -At -Home
executive order. The Council directed staff to refund the balance of any license fees paid by those
businesses.
The City Council may consider future actions after the City's financial outlook becomes clearer.
The State of Minnesota is looking at a significant deficit and closing that deficit will impact aid
revenues the City receives. The State will receive an economic projection in early December
which will provide some indication of the extent of the State deficit.
Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal:
Operate under a balanced budget that meets the needs and goals of the community.
Financial Impact:
$13,965 reduction in license fee revenue.
Respectfully Submitted,
Mark Beer, Finance Director
