11
MOU--Nms ViEw
of Mounds View Staff R
Item No 8H
Meeting Date: October 26, 2020
Type of Business: Council Business
Administrator Review:
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9333 Charter Commission Appointments
Introduction:
The Charter Commission was established in 1980 after two years of meetings by
concerned citizens that crafted and drafted a City Charter that was presented and
approved by the majority of voters. In its original form, the Charter had 15 members but
was subsequently amended down to 9. With the recent appointment of Rebecca Scholl,
the commission has a full complement of 9 members.
Five current members' terms expire on October 31, 2020. The vacancies have been
advertised in the official City newspaper as well as being posted/advertised on the City's
web page and social media. The court received a record number (10) of applications.
Discussion:
Laura Stevens, Probate Registrar for the Ramsey County Probate Court provided
applications/documents submitted to the court. Staff has included them as an attachment
and marked them alphabetically starting with A and ending with H. This is consistent with
past practices allowing council to discuss using this nomenclature versus the names.
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution No. 9333 requesting the court to appoint five residents
to the Mounds View
Charter Commission.
Respectfully submitted,
Nyle Zikmund
City Administrator
Attachment(s):
1) Candidate Applications
