MOUNDS VIEW City of Mounds View Staff Report Item No: 08A Meeting Date: November 23, 2020 Type of Business: Council Business City Administrator Review: To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9344, Approving Appointments to the City of Mounds View's Boards, Commissions, and Committees Introduction: The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission and the Planning Commission have term seats that will expire on December 31, 2020. Discussion: Parks Recreation and Forestry Commission: (Two Seats Open) Staff received three applications for the PRF Commission; Gerald Arel, Laura Wake Wiesner and Kris Lillemo. Mr. Arel is currently serving on the PRF Commission and has since 2006. Ms. Wiesner and Ms. Lillemo are new applicants. Mary Zaiger is not seeking reappointment. The PRF Commission meets November 19, 2020 to consider the applications and make a recommendation to the City Council. Both seats have three-year terms expiring 2023. All three applicants were invited to join the City Council meeting via ZOOM. Planning Commission: Two Seats Expiring, One Vacancy) Staff received three applications for the Planning Commission, Gary Stevenson, Dennis Farmer and Miranda Munson. Staff also received an application on November 4t" from Pamela Starr. However, the deadline for submittal was October 28t" Both Mr. Stevenson and Mr. Farmer are currently serving on the Planning Commission and are seeking reappointment. Mr. Farmer did apply for re -appointment to the EDC but upon learning multiple other new people applied, withdrew his name for consideration and will not be returning to the EDC. Mr. Stevenson has served since 1991 and Mr. Farmer is just finishing his first three-year term. Ms. Munson is not currently serving on a commission but has applied for and is a member of the Charter Commission. Ms. Starr is a new applicant for the Planning Commission. Ms. Starr has served on the PRF in the past.
