Reports of Staff
January 16, 2020

C. Mounds View Business Council Meeting
The last Mounds View Business Council meeting was held December 11, 2019 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at
City Hall. The topic was the City’s water preservation program that launched January 1, 2020 and
includes efforts to upgrade, maintain, protect and conserve the City’s municipal water supplies and
reductions in the waste water discharge which the City currently pays over $1 million to the Met Council
for treatment. The next meeting will be held at the Mermaid March 11, 2020. All meetings are free and
all EDC Members are encouraged to attend.

D. Skyline Motel
The EDA has completed the demolition of the Skyline Motel and a wetland delineation study. A small
wetland was found in the lower depression on the North side of the site. Public Works is getting their
street sweeper tailings tested to determine if they can be used to fill the depression and still be able to
support a structure. In the meantime, the EDA has heard developer proposals from four developers.
The EDA will be hearing two proposals January 6, 2020 and will likely pass a resolution January 13,
2020 to move forward with one of the developers. Buer Welding is cooperating with the City to sell their
backlot to the developer that the EDA chooses to move forward with. They won’t sign a Letter of Intent
unless the City is also in agreement. Bauer Welding has indicated that they would like to keep a portion
of the lot for future expansion slated to begin within two years. Bio Clean is also planning to move
forward with their expansion project once the title work on the easement between their lot and the
EDA’s lot is cleared up.

E.
