MOUN—DS VMW <br />City or Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: 8.F. <br />Meeting Date: January 11, 2021 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resources Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9376 Authorizing the Extension of Sick Leave Balances <br />for COVID Related Absences <br />Introduction: <br />During the December 14, 2020 Council Meeting, staff authorized the extension of sick leave <br />balances for COVID related absences for Public Works Bargaining Unit employees and First <br />Responders who had exhausted their 80 hours of Families First Coronavirus Responsibilities Act <br />(FFCRA) time. When congress passed the $900 billion dollar Pandemic Relief Bill on December <br />22, 2020, the FFCRA was not extended, and expired on December 31, 2020. <br />Discussion: <br />Staff discussed the loss of FFCRA during the January 4, 2021 Work Session with Council. <br />Council's directive was to continue to support staff during the current Coronavirus Pandemic and <br />provide sick leave to the Public Works Bargaining Unit employees and First Responders who miss <br />work due COVID related absences. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: <br />Create a culture where employees desire to work. <br />Financial Impact: <br />Only if overtime is needed. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 9376 Authorizing the Extension of Sick Leave Balances <br />for COVID Related Absences. <br />Rayla Sue Ewald <br />Human Resources Coordinator <br />Attachment(s): <br />1) Resolution NO. 9376 Authorizing the Extension of Sick Leave Balances for COVID <br />Related Absences <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
