Exhibit A <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Youth Development Staff <br />Department: Parks and Recreation <br />Accountable to: Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />Status: Non -Exempt Part -Time <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />This position is responsible to work directly with school age youth or teens in Parks and <br />Recreation programs. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Plan and implement age appropriate activities for youth or teens. <br />• Assist youth with homework. <br />• Provide a safe environment with clear rules and expectations. <br />• Provide guidance and role modeling for youth. <br />• May organize and/or participate in special events for youth or teens. <br />• Inspect program area daily for any safety precautions prior to youth or teens entering facility. <br />• Take attendance at the beginning of each session and assure that each attendant is picked <br />up at the end of the session. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />• High school diploma/GED. <br />• Have the desire to work with the public. <br />o Be available to work a part-time schedule of up to 29 hours per week. <br />• First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire. <br />• Willing to work with people of diverse backgrounds. <br />• Ability to work flexible schedules including day and evening hours. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />• Ability to plan and implement daily activities for youth or teens. <br />• Ability to motivate youth or teens in afterschool activities. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with youth or teens. <br />• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. <br />• Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Computer/Microsoft Office Suite program. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. <br />This work regularly requires occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly <br />requires standing, walking, and sitting, speaking or hearing, using arms to direct or motion, and <br />
