Summer Program Lead <br />February 22, 2021 <br />Page 2 <br />• Willing to work with people of diverse backgrounds. <br />• Ability to work flexible schedules including day and evening hours. <br />DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Recent college graduate or individual seeking internship in recreation, parks, and leisure <br />services. <br />• Current recreation, physical education or education professionals. <br />• Staff and/or program supervisory experience in recreation, education, or related field. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />• Knowledge of organized games, activities for special events and school aged programming. <br />• Knowledge of youth athletics. <br />• Ability to plan and implement daily activities for youth. <br />• Ability to motivate youth in afterschool activities. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with youth. <br />• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. <br />• Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Microsoft Office Suite program and recreation software. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. <br />This work regularly requires occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly <br />requires standing, walking, and sitting, speaking or hearing, using arms to direct or motion, and <br />hands to point, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, <br />crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work requires close vision, <br />distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and depth perception; vocal communication is required for <br />expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or <br />important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive <br />information of spoken words; work requires observing general surroundings and activities; work <br />may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to blood - <br />borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. <br />WORK ENVIRONMENT <br />The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee <br />encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. <br />The noise level in the work environment occasionally may become elevated due to high customer <br />volumes or activities. <br />SELECTION GUIDELINES <br />Formal application; rating of education/training and experience; oral interview; job related tests <br />may be required; reference checks, Minnesota Computerized Criminal History and Predatory <br />Offender Registry checks; and non -DOT pre -employment drug screen. <br />
