He encouraged the City Council to be patient as <br />2 these cases make their way through the court system. <br />3 <br />4 Mayor Mueller questioned if the Police Department could order additional portable radar signs. <br />5 Police Chief Harder commented he would be happy to order more signs if the Council would <br />6 support the purchase. He noted each sign costs approximately $2,500. He discussed how these <br />7 signs were more effective than the speed trailers. He indicated these signs can be solar or battery <br />8 powered. <br />9 <br />10 Mayor Mueller requested the Police Chief report back to the Council with further information on <br />11 the purchase of additional portable radar signs. <br />12 <br />13 Mayor Mueller questioned what the public can do to avoid having their cars stolen or hijacked. <br />14 Police Chief Harder recommended the public not leave their cars running empty with the keys in <br />15 the ignition, especially with children in the car. He encouraged the public to not make themselves <br />16 a target and to not allow people to walk up to them at an intersection. He encouraged the public <br />17 have good situational awareness. <br />18 <br />19 8. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />20 A. Resolution 9387, Approving 2021 Public Works Seasonal Positions. <br />21 <br />22 Human Resources Coordinator Ewald requested the Council approve the 2021 Public Works <br />23 seasonal positions. She explained these individuals would assist the Public Works Department <br />24 during the spring, summer and early fall. She noted returning employees would receive $15 per <br />25 hour and new hires would receive $14 per hour. <br />26 <br />27 MOTION/SECOND: Bergeron/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9387, <br />28 Approving 2021 Public Works Seasonal Positions. <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 A roll call vote was taken. <br />32 <br />33 Ayes — 5 Nays 0 Motion carried. <br />34 <br />35 B. Resolution 9388, Approving the Hire of Wesley Vert to the Position of Police <br />36 Officer. <br />37 <br />38 Human Resources Coordinator Ewald requested the Council approve the hire of Wesley Vert to <br />39 the position of Police Officer. She explained the City had an experienced officer submit a letter <br />40 of resignation last fall. After holding interviews and necessary background requirements, staff <br />41 was recommending this vacancy be filled by Wesley Vert. It was noted Officer Vert would begin <br />42 his service with the Mounds View Police Department on February 21, 2021. <br />43 <br />44 MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 9388, <br />45 Approving the Hire of Wesley Vert to the Position of Police Officer. <br />
