MOUNDS ViEw <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: 8E <br />Meeting Date: March 8, 2021 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9404, Approving the Proposal from All City Elevator for <br />t elevator repairs as required by the State Inspector <br />Background: <br />The City has a service contract with All City Elevator Inc, which provides yearly inspection services <br />and routine maintenance for the elevator at City Hall. <br />The elevator is inspected on an annual basis by the State of Minnesota, Department of Labor and <br />Industry. Upon the inspection late fall of 2020, the inspector noted these issues as being non- <br />compliant: <br />o MN 1307.0067 Subp.9 Install "Elevator Personnel Only" box in the equipment room. <br />Provide all required keys. All keys shall be tagged and labeled. All fire service keys <br />shall be marked red. <br />o ASME A17.1-8.6.11.1 All elevators with firefighters' emergency service operation <br />shall be subjected to monthly testing by authorized personnel. <br />o ASME A17.3-3.10.12 Install system to monitor and prevent automatic operation of the <br />elevator with faulty door. <br />Staff contacted All City Elevator in order to obtain a cost proposal for the needed repairs. Since <br />the inspection, Staff continued to pursue a 2nd quote for repairs and recently received it: <br />All City Elevator Inc. $14,832.00 <br />Schindler Elevator Corporation $19,598.00 <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br />Financial Impact: No Financial Impact to the 2021 Budget, as funding is in the General Fund <br />Budget Repairs and Maintenance Fund, account 100-4460-5110 for this project. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approving the quote from All City Elevator Inc, for the required repairs for the <br />City Hall elevator as outlined in the State of MN Inspection dated October 19, 2020 for a total of <br />$14,832.00, to be funded from the 2021 General Fund Budget account 100-4460-5110. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />�Bu <br />Don Peterson — Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
