CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Park Program Staff <br />Department: Parks and Recreation <br />Accountable to: Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />Status: Seasonal <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />This position is responsible to supervise and lead participants in games, arts and crafts, and other <br />planned activities at a specific site or sites. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />• Explain directions to various games and/or art projects. <br />• Participate in activities with youth, demonstrating leadership skills. <br />• Show good judgement and enthusiasm. <br />• Teach proper conduct to attendees by leading as a good example. <br />• Maintain equipment or supplies used for activities. <br />• Report any lost or damaged equipment to supervisor. <br />• Take attendance at the beginning of each session and assures that each attendant is picked <br />up at the end of the session. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Minimum of six (6) months experience working with youth. <br />• Have the desire to work with the public. <br />o Be available to work a part-time schedule of up to 30 hours per week. <br />• First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire. <br />• Willing to work with people of diverse backgrounds. <br />• Ability to work flexible schedules including day and evening hours. <br />NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />• Knowledge of organized games and activities. <br />• Ability to implement a wide variety of recreational activities for youth. <br />• Ability to motivate participants. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the <br />general public. <br />• Ability to communicate effective in English, both verbally and in writing. <br />• Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills. <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br />Art and craft supplies. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. <br />
