PARKS & RECREATION NEWS -L. Mounds View Parks and Recreation Department! On January 1st the City of Mounds View officially launched the new Parks and Recreation department.: For the last 20 years, the City of Mounds View has partnered with the YMCA to operate the Community Center and recreation programming. The Parks and Recreation department will now operate the Community Center and all other recreation programming in the community. The Parks and Recreation department will build on the foundation which was built over the years, We are also excited to partner with other municipalities and organizations to offer a variety of programs, events and services. More information about exciting program offerings will be available this Spring! Staff Andy Thomas joined the City of Mounds View in November as the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. He spent the last 15 years of his career with the YMCA in a variety of different roles and most recently the last 4 as the Operations Director at the Mounds View Community Center. He brings with him an extensive background in facilities management, community outreach, administration, youth development programs and more. Andy received his B.S. in Education from Bethel University, Andy is excited to continue to serve the community of Mounds View by growing the programs and services offered through Mounds View Parks and Recreation. Darryl Thibodeaux joined the City of Mounds View in January as the Recreation Coordinator. Although recently joining the city, Darryl has been with the community center for 3.5 years. Darryl graduated from Metropolitan State University with a degree in English. Leah Vandecar joined the Parks and Recreation department in January as our Event Manager. Leah has worked at the Community Center for the past 9.5 years under the YMCA, and is excited to continue working with the residents of Mounds View, She graduated from Concordia College with a degree in Communications,
