PARKS & RECREATION <br />NEWS <br />-L. <br />Mounds View Parks and <br />Recreation Department! <br />On January 1st the City of Mounds View officially launched the new Parks and Recreation <br />department.: For the last 20 years, the City of Mounds View has partnered with the <br />YMCA to operate the Community Center and recreation programming. The Parks and <br />Recreation department will now operate the Community Center and all other recreation <br />programming in the community. The Parks and Recreation department will build on the <br />foundation which was built over the years, We are also excited to partner with other <br />municipalities and organizations to offer a variety of programs, events and services. <br />More information about exciting program offerings will be available this Spring! <br />Staff <br />Andy Thomas joined the City of <br />Mounds View in November as the <br />Parks and Recreation Superintendent. <br />He spent the last 15 years of his <br />career with the YMCA in a variety <br />of different roles and most recently <br />the last 4 as the Operations Director <br />at the Mounds View Community Center. He brings with him an extensive background <br />in facilities management, community outreach, administration, youth development <br />programs and more. Andy received his B.S. in Education from Bethel University, Andy is <br />excited to continue to serve the community of Mounds View by growing the programs <br />and services offered through Mounds View Parks and Recreation. <br />Darryl Thibodeaux joined the City of Mounds View in January as the Recreation <br />Coordinator. Although recently joining the city, Darryl has been with the community <br />center for 3.5 years. Darryl graduated from Metropolitan State University with a degree <br />in English. <br />Leah Vandecar joined the Parks and Recreation department in January as our Event <br />Manager. Leah has worked at the Community Center for the past 9.5 years under <br />the YMCA, and is excited to continue working with the residents of Mounds View, She <br />graduated from Concordia College with a degree in Communications, <br />
