ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Arel, Curry, Kroeger, Palm, Sullivan, <br />Commissioners Appointed- Need Oath of Office — Arel, Lillemo, Wake Wiesner, <br />Staff: Peterson I YMCA: Thomas <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Kroeger. Motion Passed 5-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: November 19, 2020. Motion to approve by Sullivan, 2"d by Curry. <br />Motion 5-0. <br />5. SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />A. Oath of Office for Re -Appointed Commissioner Arel - by Don Peterson <br />B. Oath of office for Appointed Commissioner Lillemo, Wake Wiesner- by Don Peterson <br />C. Vote on Commission Chair, Vice Chair: Motion by Palm, 2"d by Curry to nominate Gerald <br />Arel for Chair and John Kroeger for Vice Chair. Motion Passed 7-0. <br />6. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight's agenda. Before speaking, please give your full <br />name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present. <br />7. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. Parks and Recreation — Andy Thomas: See attached report. MVCC is open with <br />restrictions. Need reservations for gym, but not fitness center at this time. Masks need to be <br />worn at all times. Memberships are up. Gym is booked out every day from noon -close, <br />along with rentals for organized sports. Continued distance learning, but transitioning to <br />before and after school care. Running a skills camp coordinated with Shoreview Community <br />Center. Will be running a full day summer program 6:30AM to 6:OOPM. Senior fitness <br />programs will begin Feb. 8, including Silver Sneakers. Rentals and reservations are slow for <br />Event Center. Working on partnerships with Quincey House for teen programs, NB Park <br />and Rec, Hall of Fame Athletics for BB clinics, SMB Fire for CPR and First Aid classes as <br />well as safety camps and bike helmet clinics, Happy Feet Dance, YMCA for Youth and <br />Government Program, Pure Intensity BB, SLP Parks and Rec for music and senior <br />programs. Ice rinks are very busy and warming houses are open with restrictions. Behind <br />on park rentals for summer at this time. Field reservations will be opening up in about a <br />week. Ice rink hours 4-8 PM M-F and 12-8 SS: Weekdays: YMCA Advisory Board status: <br />changing name to Park and Recreation Advisory Board (maybe) and seeking applications <br />for two positions to meet quarterly. Need a Commissioner to be on this Advisory Board as <br />well available during a work weekday. Commissioner Arel will be on this Board. <br />B. Public Works — Don Peterson: See attached report. Working on drainage ditch at Ardan <br />Park and Woodcrest Park. Needed approval from Ramsey County and RCWD. <br />8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: NONE <br />
