MOUN-DitSVIEW City of Mounds Vlew Staff R Item No: 08H Meeting Date: April 12, 2021 Type of Business: Council Business Administrator Review: To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resources Coordinator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9417, Approving the Hire of Rene Montero to the Facilities Maintenance Position Background: On March 8, 2021, Council approved Resolution 9408, which authorized a recruitment process for the Facilities Maintenance position. The position was posted externally for two weeks. Staff received three (3) applications and invited all candidates to interview for the position (one candidate was a no-show). Discussion: The interview panel consisted of Parks and Recreation Superintendent Thomas, Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation Peterson, and Human Resources Coordinator Ewald. It was the consensus of the interview panel to recommend Rene Montero to the position of Facilities Maintenance. Mr. Montero has one (1) summer of Public Works Seasonal Worker experience and was the best qualified candidate for the position. If hired, Mr. Montero would start at Step 1 of the pay scale, $18.97 per hour. Mr. Montero would be on probation for six (6) months, and would report directly to the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. Following is the 2021 wage schedule: 2021 Hourly Wage Schedule: Step 1 Step 1.5 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 $18.97 $19.56 $20.15 $21.34 22.52 $23.71 Mr. Montero successfully passed the required BCA background process and is scheduled for his hiring assessment the week of April 19t". Staff is requesting to begin employment of Mr. Montero on or about April 21 st Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Create a culture where employees desire to work. Financial Impact: None. Recommendation: Staff recommends the City Council adopt Resolution 9417, approving the hire of Rene Montero to the Facilities Maintenance Position.
