<br /> <br />Item No: 6A <br />Meeting Date: October 7, 2019 <br />Type of Business: CITY COUNCIL Business <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Brian Beeman, Assistant City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Strategic Plan Quarterly Update Q3 2019 <br /> <br /> <br />Introduction: <br />As part of the City Strategic Plan process, Department Heads provide a quarterly report outlining <br />the status of their projects and percent completed in achieving the goals and policies adopted by <br />the City Council through the Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />At the end of Q3 2019 Economic Development activities relating to the Strategic Plan are <br />approximately 75 % completed. Many Economic Development activities are on-going. <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Vision/Strategy/Goal: <br />Vision: Create and Maintain a Positive Business Climate where Businesses want to Locate and <br />Remain in Mounds View. <br /> <br />Strategy: Continue BR&E program, maximize utilization of development space and update list of <br />available sites, encourage land owners to maintain their properties & consider residential <br />redevelopment. <br /> <br />Goal A: Fill vacant space and continue BR&E program (75% completed, on-going) <br /> <br />1. Economic Development staff monitors an updated building and land inventory sheet and <br />map that is used to explain the pro’s and con’s of each site to developers. <br />2. Sites are also promoted on the City’s website and brochures are handed out at commercial <br />real estate investor’s meetings. <br />3. Staff walks the sites with developers as-needed <br />4. Staff regularly talks to business owners and keeps track of businesses leaving and coming <br />in. <br /> <br />Goal B: Support redevelopment & development recruitment efforts (90%, on-going) <br /> <br />1. Staff maintains and updates the BR&E questionnaire <br />2. A list of businesses visited and comments are tracked and issues are followed up and <br />resolved <br />3. Staff continues to meet with developers about 45 so far in 2019 on other sites including <br />the Tires N More redevelopment area, the area west of MWF and Rydell Auto as well as <br />the properties SE of Bel Rae and several other residential sites including the are SE of <br />Arden Park. <br />4. A pocket neighborhood is in the planning stages in the Long Lake Woods area. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br /> <br /> <br />
