Attachment E
2008 Mounds View Comprehensive Plan
The proposed Mounds View trailway system consists of a combination of on -street and off-street
arteries and connectors. The following roadways serve as arteries for connecting streets and links to
other trailway systems:
• County Road H
• County Road H2
• County Road I
• County Road J
• Silver Lake Road
• Long Lake Road
• Groveland Road (continuing with Knollwood Road south of County Highway 10)
The following roadways serve as connectors to the roadway and trailway systems:
• Ardan Avenue
• Hillview Road
• Bronson Drive
• Edgewood Drive
• Woodale Drive
• Quincy Street
• Mounds View Drive
• Pleasant View Drive
The City does not provide trailways on every street. Mounds View intends the trailway system to
provide reasonable accessibility to all areas of the city, making special provisions to provide access to
schools, parks, business areas and the City Hall and Community Center area.
Trailway priorities established by the City in 1992 include:
1. Stripe and mark one or both sides of City roads with sufficient width to provide on -street
trails consistent with the trailways plan.
2. Pursue grants and funding sources for the development of trailways in Mounds View.
3. Consider adding trailways during street reconstruction and improvements.
The City has started a program to construct new trailways along both sides of County Highway 10.
The project involves constructing an off -road trail along the County Highway 10 corridor from
County Road H to Silver Lake Road in the city. This segment of County Highway 10 contains several
destinations vital to the city: Mounds View City Hall, Community Center, Ramsey County public
library, parks, transit facilities and various commercial developments, most of which are currently
accessible only by vehicle. The new trails along County Highway 10 will provide pedestrians safe
access to these facilities as well as provide access to several local trail segments and regional trail
systems. The City will investigate future trail expansion to the western city limits for potential
extension in the neighboring city.
Chapter 6: Transportation 6-32
