Organizations § 33.042 MEETINGS. The Commission shall meet immediately after its appointment and thereafter shall, from time to time, fix the times of its meetings and adopt, amend and alter rules for its procedure. Under the direction of the City Council, the Commission shall perform those functions and duties necessary to assist the Police Department with: (A) Decisions regarding hiring, promotions, awards and commendations; (B) Enhancing the awareness of Police Department capabilities and services; (C) Providing an opportunity for citizen involvement in police services; and (D) Encouraging positive exchange between the Police Department and the community. (Prior Code, § 404.04) (Ord. 947, passed 07-23-2018) § 33.044 CONFLICT OF INTEREST. No member shall consider or vote upon any question in which the member is directly or indirectly interested. The Council shall pay from the Treasury all actual and necessary expenses incurred by the Commission in the performance of its duties. (Prior Code, § 404.06) (Ord. 947, passed 07-23-2018) PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION § 33.060 ESTABLISHMENT; PURPOSE. 17 (A) There is hereby established a Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission iFor Y r- of advising the Council on the operation of public recreation, parks and playgrounds, pursuant to the authority of this subchapter. (B) The Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission is referred to herein as "the Commission". (Prior Code, § 405.01) (Ord. 714, passed 05-12-2003) § 33.061 MEMBERSHIP; OATH; COMPENSATION. (A) Appointment of members. (1) The Commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the City Council and based on the recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission, from the applications submitted. (2) Based upon the recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission, the City Council shall appoint a Chairperson. (B) Oath of office. Every appointed member shall, before entering upon the discharge of his or her duties, take an oath that he or she will faithfully discharge the duties of his or her office. (C) Compensation. Members of the Commission shall serve without compensation.
