Item No. 6A <br />MOINDS'w I V1 EW <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />X <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From: Andy Thomas — Parks & Recreation Superintendent <br />Date: October 28, 2021 <br />RE: Parks & Recreation Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Parks & Recreation Department. <br />Operations <br />• New Recreation Software — Parks and Recreation will be switching to Civic Rec in January <br />2022 <br />• Carpet — Final sections are being made for new carpet in the Community Center <br />Furniture — Has been selected and once carpet is picked out the furniture colors will be <br />selected as well. <br />■ Building Expansion — Council will discuss the viability of expanding the Community Center at <br />November's work session. <br />Programs <br />Senior Programs — Many new and exciting opportunities for seniors to participate in. <br />Pickleball is back for winter. <br />• Youth Programs — Teen Center is open Monday & Wednesday with Quincy on Tuesday and <br />Thursday afternoons. We are averaging 30 kids a day. <br />• Open gym — 700+ youth check -ins in October, up 20% over 2018 & 2019. <br />Community Events <br />• Fall Festival — Going on right now <br />Cookies with Santa — December 4th <br />• Operation Joy — December 151h & 16th <br />1I. <br />
