MOUNDS Vtrw <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: 8M <br />Meeting Date: November 22, 2021 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Direction of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9501, Authorizing the installation of No Overnight Parking <br />Signs and No Parking Signs on Woodlawn Drive, Pinewood School, <br />Bronson Drive <br />Background: <br />Staff has been made aware of separate parking issues within the City. <br />• Pinewood School; no parking from the entrance to Belle Lane during school hours <br />• No Parking on both sides of Woodlawn Drive, West of Edgewood Drive <br />• No overnight parking on Bronson Drive from Greenfield Avenue to Jackson Drive <br />Discussion: <br />Public Works cannot complete snow removal operations efficiently, thoroughly, and safely <br />due to the narrowness on Woodlawn Drive, west of Edgewood Drive, nor Bronson Drive, <br />from Greenfield Avenue to Jackson Drive due to the apartment residents utilizing on street <br />parking instead of their designated parking lot. <br />Additional Discussion: <br />Pinewood School has made communication to the City asking that no parking signs, <br />during school hours, be installed from their entrance on Quincy Street to Belle Lane, for <br />safety reasons due to the congestion that occurs. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br />Financial Impact The 2021 budget, Street Sign Budget has funds for sings account 100- <br />4475-1600 will be used for the necessary signage. No additional transfer of funds is <br />necessary. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the attached resolution for installing no <br />parking signs on both sides of Woodlawn Drive, and no overnight parking signs on <br />Bronson Drive, and no parking during school hours, on Quincy Street from Pinewood <br />School entrance to Belle Lane.
