08A <br />Page 2 of 7 <br />Planning Commission Recommendation: <br />The Planning Commission recommended approval of the CUP (Resolution 1145-22). <br />Additionally, the Commission approved Resolution 1146-22, Approving a Variance to allow the <br />garage to exceed 18' in height (24' proposed), and to exceed 35' in width (36' proposed). The <br />Commission also suggested that the City consider amending the City Code to allow garages to <br />be wider than 35'. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval. CUP's for oversized garages are not unusual. In 2021, a CUP <br />was approved for a 28' X 44' garage (1,232 sq ft) on Lambert Avenue. In 2020, a CUP was <br />approved for a 26' X 46' garage (1,196 sq ft) on County Road H2. <br />A Public Hearing notice was published by the Shoreview Press on January 18, 2022, and <br />mailed to property owners within 350' of the subject property.
