RESOLUTION 9550 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVING PROPOSAL FOR A PRELIMINARY REVIEW OF THE WATER <br />TREATMENT PLANT DESIGNS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council approved resolution 9201 awarding a contract to for <br />the Water Treatment Plant Rehabilitation; and <br />WHEREAS, the contractor performed the work per the plans and specifications as <br />prepared by Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services (AE2S); and <br />WHEREAS, after several months of operating the water treatment plants, Staff <br />discovered there is media loss at Water Treatment Plant 2; and <br />WHEREAS, AE2S, Shank Constructors and the City are currently working to <br />resolve the media loss at WTP 2; and <br />WHEREAS, Water Treatment Plant 3 was substantially completed in December <br />2021 and has been the primary water plant in operation for the City; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff discovered in September that there was some slight media loss <br />at WTP 3; and <br />WHEREAS, no significant media loss was observed between August and <br />September, this was not the case between September of 2021 and January of 2022; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff contacted AE2S and requested that this matter be looked into <br />immediately; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff contacted another Engineering firm and requested they provide <br />the City with a proposal to review the plans and specifications for the water treatment <br />plants; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff informed the City Administrator of this situation on February 3; <br />Council was made aware at the Work Session on February 7, 2022; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff received a draft proposal from Barr Engineering for a preliminary <br />review of Water Treatment Plant Designs at a cost between $10,000.00 to $14,000.00. <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
