RESOLUTION NO.9568 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE 2021 MOUNDS VIEW <br />CITIZEN OF THE YEAR CHUCK HOWARD <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Citizen of the Year Award recognizes ordinary citizens who have <br />demonstrated initiative for improving the community, whose service or performance exemplifies the spirit of <br />giving back, and who inspire others in their volunteer efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, nominations were solicited from the public and were reviewed by the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, Chuck Howard, resident of the City of Mounds View for nearly 30 years, was selected for <br />the 2021 award and meets the criteria outlined in the policy; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Howard has lived adjacent to Greenfield Park during his tenure as a resident of the <br />City of Mounds View; and <br />WHEREAS, during that time, Mr. Howard has been assisting the City of Mounds View Public Works <br />Department in keeping Greenfield Park safe and clean for the community by regularly walking the park grounds <br />and trail around the park; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Howard has been the City's "eyes and ears" for reporting vandalism, illegal dumping, <br />trash issues, broken playground equipment, and safety concerns; and <br />WHEREAS, in June 2021, Mr. Howard found a large duffel bag containing over $300 of baseball <br />equipment that was accidentally left at the Greenfield Park baseball field and he stayed with the bag until the <br />Parks Maintenance Department arrived to secure the duffel bag; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Howard has contributed his efforts unselfishly to the City of Mounds View, not <br />expecting anything in return. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City Council does hereby present the <br />2021 Mounds View Citizen of the Year award to Chuck Howard in sincere gratitude and appreciation for his <br />dedication as a resident and for his continued support and pride in the community. <br />Adopted this 28th day of March, 2022. <br />Mayor Carol A.
