Mounds View City Council May 23, 2022 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />7. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br /> A. Karen Meyer – Community Support Center (CSC) Executive Director. <br /> <br />Karen Meyer, Community Support Center (CSC) Executive Director, discussed the work being <br />done by her organization to address homelessness and financial stability in the community. She <br />commented on how clients were referred to her, appointments were held and social service <br />resource were pursued. She explained CSC serves New Brighton, Arden Hills, North Oaks, <br />Shoreview and Mounds View. She indicated the majority of her support comes from churches or <br />through other fundraisers. She encouraged the public to participate in the CSC Fundraiser Walk <br />on July 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Silver View Park. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause asked if CSC had financial aid available for those in need. Ms. <br />Meyer reported CSC had financial aid available for individuals facing eviction and power shut <br />offs. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause questioned how people are referred to CSC. Ms. Meyer explained <br />she receives referrals from property management companies, landlords, social services, the County <br />and word of mouth. She noted people do not have to have a referral in order to receive assistance <br />from CSC. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Hull recommended information regarding CSC be placed on the City’s website. He <br />supported the City providing CSC with $1,000 from its charitable gambling funding. Ms. Meyer <br />thanked the City for their support. <br /> <br />8. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />A. Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance 991, Amending Chapter 110.117 <br />Related to Temporary On-Sale Intoxicating Liquor Licensing. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council amend Chapter 110.117 related to temporary <br />on-sale intoxicating liquor licensing. He commented on the proposed language change, which <br />would allow the Festival in the Park Committee or any other organization greater latitude in finding <br />vendors to provide on-sale services. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Bergeron/Cermak. To Waive the First Reading and Introduce Ordinance <br />991, Amending Chapter 110.117 Related to Temporary On-Sale Intoxicating Liquor Licensing. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. Resolution 9596, Amend Seasonal Public Works; Seasonal Parks and <br />Recreation; and Parks and Recreation Part-Time Event Center Host and <br />Front Desk Staff by Increasing Wages. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council adopt a Resolution that would amend seasonal <br />public works; seasonal parks and recreation; and parks and recreation part-time event center host <br />and front desk staff by increasing wages. He explained City staff was on the cusp of canceling
