MOUNDS VIEW <br />City of Mounds View Staff R <br />Item No: 8.B. <br />Meeting Date: May 23, 2022 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resource Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9596, Amend Seasonal Public Works; Seasonal <br />Parks and Recreation; and Parks and Recreation Part -Time <br />Event Center Host and Front Desk Staff by Increasing Wages <br />Introduction: <br />Staff continues to have a difficult time recruiting seasonal and part-time positions, which were posted in <br />January and February. Staff has participated in multiple career fairs, which have resulted in few applicants. <br />Qualified candidates have stated low wages are the issue. <br />Discussion: <br />The HR Committee gathered and discussed the low, or for some positions, lack of applications for part-time <br />or seasonal positions at the City. All HR Committee members agreed wage rate increases are needed in <br />order to engage applicants in order to continue summer parks programming within the City.
