MOUNDS VFEW- <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: <br />Meeting Date: <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nate Harder, Chief of Police <br />Item Title/Subject: 2021 Quarter 4 report <br />Background: <br />As part of the City Strategic Plan process, Department Heads provide a quarterly report <br />outlining the status of their projects and percent completed in achieving the goals and <br />policies adopted by the City Council through the Strategic Plan. <br />Discussion: <br />At the beginning of 2021 the Mounds View Police Department completed 100% of the <br />action steps and tasks in order to fulfill the goals and strategies to support the City <br />Councils Vision and Mission as outlined in the 2019-2021 City Strategic Plan. Some of <br />these gains were lost during the last year of the COVID19 crises and civil unrest but have <br />risen back to the levels we have come to expect from our agency. <br />Strategic Plan Vision/Strategy/Goal: Vision: A progressive community that is <br />welcoming, and desirable destination to all ages and cultures, who seeks progress <br />through partnerships, and where residents can work, live, and play safely and show pride <br />in the community. <br />Goal A: Increase enforcement and responsiveness to drugs, traffic, code violations, and <br />petty crimes. <br />1. VCET continued to make major narcotics arrests (to include federal charges) <br />2. DUI officer recognized for amount of arrests, citations, and quality of work. <br />3. Officers back to pre-pandemic/unrest levels of proactive activity despite climate. <br />4. Agency fields two K9 teams, full time DUI/traffic officer, full- time VCET officer. <br />Goal B: Continue community outreach programs. Focus on diversity events and public <br />relation activities. <br />1. NRO conducted numerous outreach events, many tried for the first time. <br />2. Continued National Night Out, numerous rock wall events. <br />3. Numerous crime prevention presentations, community presentations <br />4. Police Foundation neighborhood officer house partnership <br />Goal C: Network with other communities and organizations. <br />1. Continued partnership with Police Foundation. <br />2. Partnered with Ramsey County with Collaborative Sexual Assault reform <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
