He explained this second dog creates a K9 unit within the department. He then <br />introduced Alex Aase and K-9 Ace to the City Council. He thanked all of the officers within the <br />department who have assisted with making the K9 unit a tremendous success. A round of applause <br />was offered by all in attendance. <br />Andy Helgeson, Minnesota K9 Consulting, introduced himself to the Council and commented on <br />the training he was providing to K9's working with police departments. He discussed how the <br />Mounds View Police Department was on the cutting edge when it came to 21st Century policing. <br />He commended the department for meeting the challenges in the current policing environment and <br />for continuing to support the K9 unit. He presented Police Officer Aase and K9 Ace with a <br />certificate for completing the tactical police K9 handler's course. A round of applause was offered <br />by all in attendance. <br />Police Chief Harder thanked Mr. Helgeson for his visionary leadership and for finding a new way <br />to train K9's. He thanked Police Officer Aase and K-9 Ace for all of their hard work. <br />8. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />A. Public Hearing: Resolution 9610, Approving a Temporary On -Sale <br />Intoxicating Liquor License for Festival in the Park of Mounds View to allow <br />Maxx Bar and Grill to Sell and Serve Alcoholic Beverages at the 2022 Festival <br />in the Park. <br />City Administrator Zikmund requested the Council approve a temporary on -sale intoxicating <br />liquor license for Festival in the Park of Mounds View to allow Maxx Bar and Grill to sell and <br />serve alcoholic beverages at the 2022 Festival in the Park. He reported Maxx Bar has met all City <br />requirements and staff recommends approval of the request. <br />Mayor Mueller opened the public hearing at 6:48 p.m. <br />Hearing no public input, Mayor Mueller closed the public hearing at 6:49 p.m. <br />Council Member Hull asked if Maxx Bar and Grill would be using wrist bands at the event. City <br />Administrator Zikmund reported this would be the case. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Hull/Bergeron.
