We embrace our <br />differences because we understand it takes all backgrounds <br />and walks of life to truly impact our residents living in our <br />communities. <br />Our inclusion and diversity vision statement is “Seeking the <br />Highest Ground.” At Michaels, we strive for the highest ground, <br />where diversity of experience, background, and individual <br />identity are treasured. Our commitment to an inclusive culture <br />fosters a sense of belonging within our organization. <br />Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council was created <br />to ensure every voice is heard. The council is comprised of <br />Michaels teammates from different departments with unique <br />backgrounds that help bring different perspectives. The DEI <br />Council has developed strategies to implement initiatives to <br />increase hiring/offering acceptance for underrepresented <br />candidates, cultivate external relationships with professional/ <br />civic groups to support diverse backgrounds, and increase our <br />participation in community events that support inclusion and <br />social justice. <br />Michaels also highlight employees who make a difference <br />within our organization and their communities with annual <br />awards. We provide diversity and unconscious bias training to <br />all teammates. We also participate in community events that <br />expose us to a broad and diverse network. We work to ensure <br />that we have a robust vendor/supplier diversity program that <br />drives the use of historically underutilized businesses and <br />minority, women, veteran, LGBTQ+, and service-disabled <br />veteran-owned.
