Item No: 08A Meeting Date: September 12, 2022 MOUNDS I\TIE%,V Type of Business: Council Business Administrator Review: Lity of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resource Director Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9625, Approving the Hire of Alexis Campis-Olalde to the Facilities Maintenance Position (Monday -Friday) Background: On March 28, 2022, Council approved Resolution 9571, which authorized a recruitment process for the Facilities Maintenance position. A candidate was hired, however resigned after six (6) weeks of employment. Discussion: The Facilities Maintenance position was reposted, this time for two (2) positions. The first position will work Monday -Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; the second position will work Tuesday -Saturday 11:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Having a second Facilities Maintenance position eliminates the need for two (2) of the three (3) part-time Custodians at the Parks and Recreation Department. Currently there is one (1) part-time Custodian employed. The Human Resource Committee concurred with this decision. Four (4) applications were received for the Facilities Maintenance position and three (3) were invited to interview. The interview panel consisted of Parks and Recreation Superintendent Thomas, Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation Peterson, and Human Resource Director Ewald. It was the consensus of the interview panel to recommend Alexis "Alex" Campis-Olalde to the position of Facilities Maintenance. Mr. Campis has similar experience working at a neighboring city. If hired, Mr. Campis would start at Step 1 of the pay scale, $19.54 per hour. He would be on probation for six (6) months, and would report directly to the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. Following is the 2022 wage schedule: 2022 Hourly Wa e Schedule: Step 1 Step 1.5 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 $19.54 $20.15 $20.76 $21.98 23.20 $24.42 Mr. Campis successfully passed the required hiring assessment and we are awaiting the BCA background results. Staff is requesting to begin employment of Mr. Campis on or around September 14th provided clear BCA results are received. Recommendation: Staff recommends the City Council adopt Resolution 9625, approving the hire of Alexis Campis-Olalde to the Facilities Maintenance Position (Monday -Friday).
