M0U__N_DitSVVtE_W <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: 5.D. <br />Meeting Date: September 26, 2022 <br />Type of Business: Consent Agenda <br />Administrator Review <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resource Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9628 Authorize Additional Compensation for Jeremy <br />Hellpap to Work in Higher job Classification <br />Introduction: <br />Chief Nate Harder will be taking a leave of absence due to a work related injury beginning October 11, <br />2022. Additionally, Deputy Chief Benjamin Zender will be attending a 10 week out of state training beginning <br />September 26, 2022 and returning in December, 2022. <br />Discussion: <br />Chief Harder will be absent a minimum of 30 - 60 days due to a needed surgery/recovery caused by a work <br />related injury. During the absence of Chief Harder, Investigator Jeremy Hellpap has agreed to be Interim <br />Police Chief. Staff recommends the following wage increase during the interim period beginning October <br />11, 2022, lasting until Chief Harder has returned to full duty: <br />Investigator Hellpap Current Wage: <br />Investigator Wage + 16 Year Longevity: $46.82 <br />Chief Wage Proposed: <br />Step 1: $56.92 <br />The Human Resource Committee has discussed the absence of both Chief Harder and Deputy Chief <br />Zender, and agree with the Chief's recommendation of Investigator Hellpap for the assignment. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: <br />Provide ways for employees to advance in their careers through training, promotions, and other <br />incentives. <br />Financial Impact: <br />Wage adjustment anticipated to last between 30 — 60 days, depending upon recovery.
