RESOLUTION 9650 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA AUTHORIZATION OF NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION FOR GREENFIELD PARK WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreations and Forestry Commission approved replacing the playground equipment at Greenfield Park at their September 22, 2022 meeting; and WHEREAS, the City Council approved the new Playground equipment at their September 26, 2022 meeting; and, WHEREAS, not included in the cost of the new playground ground equipment were the swings, small playground for ages 2-5; the Commission requested Staff to obtain cost estimates; and, WHEREAS, upon Staff meeting with Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground, the recommendation is to replace the swing set, small playground for ages 2-5, and one of the spring ride components. The merry-go-round will be kept and refurbished, also the balance beam and climbing wall will remain; and WHEREAS, the Commission also recommends that a pavilion or some type of shade structure be installed for the park patrons to utilize; and WHEREAS, Staff received cost estimates from Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground and presented this to the Commission at their October 27, 2022 meeting and they are recommending the following improvements: • New Playground for ages 5-12 from the Game Time National Recreation Parks Association at a cost of $ 148,935.45 with the additional installation cost of $21,456.00 • New playground equipment for ages 2-5 to include a new spring component, and swing set and swings, for a cost of $24,853.13 with the additional installation cost of $8,242.00 • New wood fiber and wear mat for a cost of $13,131.42 with the additional installation cost of $6,623.00. • GT Shade Canopy for a cost of $14,980.56 with the installation cost of $7,481.44 additionally a 28'x28' concrete pad will be needed at a cost of $22,462.00. • Additional picnic tables, trash receptacles and benches for the cost of $14,653.00.
