Item No: 08E <br />MOMS <br />VIEW <br />Meeting Date: December 12, 2022 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />mov— <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Nyle Zikmund, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9665, Approving the 2023 City Council Meeting Dates <br />Introduction <br />The City Council approves a Council meeting schedule annually in December. <br />Discussion <br />Based on the Council's historical schedule of conducting work sessions on the first Monday of <br />each month and regular Council meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, <br />attached is a proposed list of meeting dates for 2023 (Exhibit A). Also included are EDA meetings, <br />which are typically held just prior to the regular Council meetings. <br />The following legal holidays fall on dates that would otherwise be considered meeting dates: <br />January 2 (New Year's Day Observed), September 4 (Labor Day) are work sessions and <br />December 25 (Christmas Day) is a regular Council Meeting. Staff is proposing Tuesday, <br />January 3 and Tuesday, September 5 for the work sessions and Tuesday, December 26 for the <br />regular Council meeting. <br />In addition, Staff is proposing that the July 3 work session be cancelled due to the <br />Independence Day holiday that falls on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. <br />The special Council meeting on January 3, prior to the work session, is for selecting the acting <br />Mayor, Treasurer and the Official Newspaper and Depositories; for appointing City Council <br />Members and City Staff as Representatives for City Commissions and other Organizations; and <br />for any other business the council deems appropriate for the special meeting. <br />As discussed, any future town hall meetings are canceled indefinitely due to poor attendance. <br />We will discuss the Staff/Council retreat date(s) at a future meeting to allow input from the newly <br />appointed Council Members. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: N/A <br />Financial Impact: None <br />Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of Resolution 9665 approving the 2023 City <br />Council Meeting Dates as shown in Exhibit A. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Nyle Zikmund <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br />
