Mounds View City Council November 28, 2022
Regular Meeting Page 2
Mayor Mueller recognized Jonathan Thomas and thanked him for his 21 years of dedicated service
on the Mounds View Charter Commission.
Jonathan Thomas thanked the Council for this recognition and stated he appreciated the City's
support over the years.

6. PUBLIC COMMENT
Brian Kaden, 7675 Spring Lake Road, explained he was before the Council two weeks ago after
his son was almost hit by a car that rant the stop sign and bus arm at his bus stop. He requested
t t the City install stop signs with flashing borders at the east and west intersection of County Road I.
He also recommended the rectangular signs that say "Oncoming Traffic Does Not Stop" be
installed under the stop signs. It was his hope that this would assist with eliminating confusion for
drivers at this intersection. He commented further on the number of children in his neighborhood
and stated he would like to see them properly protected.

Mayor Mueller asked if Mr. Kaden was able to speak with the transportation department with the
school district.

Mr. Kaden stated after speaking with the transportation department, he was able to get his sons
bus stop moved, which meant his son would no longer have to cross County Road I. Rather, the
bus would be rerouted for safety purposes. He thanked the Council for their assistance with this
matter.

Ann Tate, 3048 Bronson Drive, explained she lived at the corner of Pleasant View Drive and
Bronson Drive. She presented the City staff with a petition against the road redesign that was being
considered for Pleasant View Drive and requested the planned project be limited to the repair of
the existing road. She reported her neighbors that had signed the petition opposed the proposed
multi -use trail.

Mayor Mueller thanked Ms. Tate for her efforts and noted the City of Fridley was piloting this
project. Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson explained Fridley was taking the
lead on this project and the cost for the project would be shared between Fridley and Mounds
View. He noted this matter would be coming back to the Council for further consideration on
December 12.

Daniel Turner, 1955 McKinley Street in Minneapolis, spoke to the proposed work being planned
on Pleasant View Drive. He explained he did a lot of biking throughout the community and he did
not believe a multi -use trail was necessary. Rather, he recommended signs be posted that Pleasant
View Drive was a bicycle route.

Renee Johnson, 7385 Pleasant View Drive, expressed concerns with who would maintain the
proposed trail. She reported her street sewer system was never cleaned out. She feared that if a
trail were constructed, it would not be properly maintained. She was of the opinion that Pleasant
View Drive was wide enough to accommodate walkers and bikers and did not need additional
right-of-way for a trail. She questioned why she heard about this project from Fridley residents
