Prior to my retirement in 2016, I spent 33 years in finance, the last 14 as a Equity Research/Portfolio Analyst at RBC Wealth Management. My
responsibilities included the creation and co -management of, two very popular investment vehicles for the firm, tailored to individual
investors. When I retired, we had $2.5 billion in assets under management. The strategies, a high quality dividend growth portfolio, and an
equity income portfolio; provided an attractive income stream for individual investors (average 3% for dividend growth/3.5% for equity
income) as well as capital appreciation; we outperformed our relative benchmark for 12 of those 14 years. More importantly, I was required
to evaluate individual stocks with my co -manager's involvement, examine the underlying business model as well as valuation and suitability
for inclusion in this research -driven, diversified portfolio approach. It required extensive knowledge of individual industries, the stock market,
domestic and global economic environments, changing trends and impact of domestic and global political. I learned to shift when it was the
least comfortable, defend my choices, explain when choices did not "work", and accept responsibility for all moves, which may help me in
the responsibilities with the EDA committee. I work well with diverse personalities. My work required a high degree of verbal and written
communication, through written reports, industry updates and co -hosting a "morning radio -type show" for our financial advisors.
Additionally, during my time at RBC, I represented the company as a speaker at client events, discussing the market, industry sectors and
stocks on CNBC, Bloomberg, and local/regional news media, quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the NYTimes, StarTribune, among others.
Post retirement, I am a mentor at Hamline University, working with undergraduate and graduate students, helping them evaluate career
options within the business school, and working with them to polish their speaking and writing skills, in addition to networking and
application process for internships. I also teach a personal finance seminar each year, tailored towards college students.
This is the time in my life when I have the time, energy and resources to give back. I can think of nothing more interesting, more fun or
