PARKS AND RECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION <br />6:30 P.M. | NOVEMBER 18, 2021 | MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:35 PM <br />2. ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Arel, Curry, Kroeger, Lillemo, Palm, Sullivan,Wake Wiesner, <br /> Staff: Peterson | Thomas <br />3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Kroeger. Motion Passed 5-0 <br />4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />October 28, 2021 Meeting Minutes. Motion to approve by Sullivan, 2nd by Lillemo. Motion Passed 4-0. <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and <br />address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present. <br />6. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. Parks and Recreation – Andy: See attached report. <br />B. Public Works – Don: See attached report. <br />7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. NONE <br />8. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Review Commission Meeting Calendar for 2022: Motion to approve calendar by Palm, 2nd by <br />Lillemo. Motion Passed 5-0 <br />B. Review Parks and Recreation Programs for 2022: See attached report. Other suggestions for <br />programming? More adult activities in the evening outside the work day (gardening, game night, book <br />club, social media basics, computer basics, buying a house, retirement classes). Programs for people <br />with special needs (kids and adults). Tap into high school groups: robotics, dance team, Friday field <br />trips to Cheap Skate, mini golf, etc. where kids could just meet at a location and hop on a bus to go to <br />the venue. Laurentian? Disc golf league? Swimming lessons at Edgewood? Can we point residents to <br />a different organization that might offer classes that we don’t (ISD 621, Community Ed, NB, SV)? <br />C. Consider Cancelation of December Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting: Motion <br />to cancel by Palm, 2nd by Lillemo. Motion Passed 5-0 <br />D. Recognition of outgoing Commissioners Curry and Kroeger <br />9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Woodcrest Park-making it a natural park with things for kids to do along the <br />walking path. <br />10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS <br />11. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn by Kroeger, 2nd by Palm. Motion Passed 5-0 <br />Next Regular Commission Meeting: January 27, 2022
