MOUNDitsvMW <br />City of Mounds View Staff R <br />Item No: 8D <br />Meeting Date: March 13, 2023 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Director of Public Works/ Parks and Recreation <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9719, Approving the Hiring of Jacob Garibay as a <br />Consultant for GIS Services <br />Background <br />Jacob Garibay resigned from the City as the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) <br />Technician in December of 2022; the position is currently vacant and being advertised. <br />Discussion <br />As the construction season approaches and yearly maintenance begins, it is apparent <br />that the department requires GIS knowledge and assistance. <br />Staff reached out to Jacob and inquired if he would be interested in covering the position <br />temporarily as a part time (maximum 20 hours/week) consultant. <br />Jacob indicated he would be interested and willing to help train and assist the new GIS <br />Specialist when hired. An agreement was reviewed and agreed to by Mr. Garibay and <br />Staff. <br />Funding for the position would come from the current vacant position salaried pay. <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br />Financial Impact: No Financial Impact to 2023 Budget. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff is recommending the hiring of Jacob Garibay as a part time consulting GIS <br />Technician. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Don Peterson <br />Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Commune, <br />
