CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Summer Program Lead <br />Department: Parks and Recreation <br />Accountable to: Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />Status: Seasonal <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />The Summer Program Lead is responsible to lead the Explore More Summer Program or Explore <br />Parks Program. The incumbent assists the Recreation Coordinator with planning, leading, and <br />evaluating the program as well as providing work direction for summer program staff. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None. <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />•Assist the Recreation Coordinator with planning, supervising, and implementation of the program <br />and program activities. <br />•Assist in the promotion of the program including calendars, newsletters, and other forms of <br />communication with parents/guardians and the community. <br />•Provide work direction to program staff. <br />•Assist the Recreation Coordinator with supervision and training to the program staff. <br />•Assist with scheduling and assigning staff. <br />•Inventory, order, and distribute equipment, supplies and materials. <br />•Maintain accurate records and statistics. <br />•Coordinate summer staff meetings as required. <br />•Distribute timesheets and other pertinent correspondence to summer staff as needed. <br />•Continuously evaluate the program and recommend needed changes to the Recreation <br />Coordinator. <br />•Ensure the site is kept clean and organized. <br />•Ensure excellent communication with parents/guardians. <br />•Perform administrative activities to support the program, including record and file maintenance, <br />registration, release forms, and emergency forms. <br />•Maintain CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing for meals and snacks, if <br />applicable. <br />•Perform related duties as required. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />•High School Diploma/GED <br />•Completed two years of college course work in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, <br />Education or related field. <br />•Two years of experience working in Parks and Recreation, summer camps, physical <br />education, education or community education. <br />•Two years word processing experience. <br />•Have the desire to work with the public. <br />o Be available to work a part-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. <br />•First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire.
