City of Mounds View Comprehensive Plan <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> 29 <br />Industrial <br /> <br />Goal 1: Industrial development shall be considered in order to provide a broad <br />tax base and an expanded employment base within Mounds View. <br /> <br />Policies: <br /> <br />a. Continue to maintain and expand the City’s industrial and commercial tax base. <br /> <br />b. Cooperate with industrial developers to ensure that industrial development is a community <br />asset and meets the standards established by the City. <br /> <br />c. Investigate alternative incentives to attract new desired industries to Mounds View. <br /> <br />d. Identify industrial activities complementary to existing activities and promote and facilitate <br />the development of such industries in Mounds View. <br /> <br />Goal 2: Ensure that industrial development is compatible with adjacent land uses <br />and is accommodated without destroying desirable environmental <br />features and natural amenities. <br /> <br />Policies: <br /> <br />a. Industrial development must adequately provide for storm water drainage. <br /> <br />b. Introduce buffering to better protect adjacent residential neighborhoods. <br /> <br />c. Give due consideration to all potential physical implications and services and facility <br />demands (i.e. traffic generation, sewer and water demands, etc.) when considering industrial <br />development. <br /> <br />d. Develop and use performance standards to judge industrial proposals. <br /> <br />e. Industrial uses shall be consolidated in compact and functional districts. <br /> <br />f. Industrial uses shall be located within easy access of arterial streets to minimize impact <br />on local streets. <br /> <br />g. Industrial development on wetlands, flood plains, shore land, and other natural features <br />that perform important public protection functions in their natural state shall be restricted.
