Unfinished Business:

a) Groveland Park Building Replacement –
Are there any additional points the Commissioners want to make before this is brought back to the
City Council to re-bid this project in an effort to obtain more favorable bids.
Current Points:
 Changing the specifications to give the contractor the entire 2006 construction season to
complete the project would do this.
 There would also be an advertisement campaign to reach the smaller contractors who
typically do not bid on public contracts.

b) Random Park Building / Golf Course Building –
th
On November 10 a neighborhood Meeting was held.
th
Also, on November 14, the City Council approve moving ahead with this project by approving a
letter proposal submitted by BRAA to assist the City. The rough estimated total cost is $250,000.
BRAA is working on a letter summary, which will include the scope of the project along with the
breakdown of the cost estimate. With a total estimated cost of $250,000, does the Commission still
want to recommend proceeding with the project?

c) Oakwood Park Renovation Project – Currently On Hold
Then next steps are as follows:
1.) Develop a layout for the plan.
2.) Develop a cost estimate for the individual items in the plan.
3.) Conduct an open house for the neighborhood to get their input.
4.) Bring the proposal to the City Council with the Commissioners recommendation
and neighborhood input.
The Parks Supervisor is working with the engineering technician to have the plans overlaid onto an
air photo (including proposed field, fences, new trees, picnic tables, benches, tot-lot…). The City
Forester will also be consulted to develop a tree-planting plan. Finally a line item cost estimate will
be developed. It is anticipated that this plan will be presented to the Commissioners at the October
Meeting.
