Park and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes <br /> April 22, 2004 <br /> Meeting Called to order: <br /> 1. Roll Call: <br /> Present: Kroeger, Kunz, Long, Silvis, Edmond, Steeves, McIntyre, <br /> Dazenski, Lee <br /> Absent: Kunza, (there is currently one vacant Commissioner position) <br /> 2. Approval of March 18, 2004Meeting Minutes: <br /> Acknowledgement that Staff will be proposing to the City Council to have the <br /> same professional service provide the minutes for Park and Recreation Meetings <br /> as is currently being done for Planning Commission Meetings and City Council <br /> Meetings. This will be done as part of the 2005 Budget proposal. Until then, due <br /> to Staff time restraints, "executive minutes" which simply summarize each topic <br /> with a couple sentences and documents all motions will be used. <br /> Minutes were approved with minor clarifications <br /> 3. Commission noted that the City Forester, Rick Wriskey, would be present at the <br /> May 27, 2004 meeting. <br /> 4. Residents near the Greenfield Park have requested to address the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission. <br /> • Cindy Palm requested that the playground equipment be entirely replaced. <br /> Ms. Palm went on to site consumer product safety and League of <br /> Minnesota Cities requirements. <br /> • Greenfield is the oldest play equipment in the City. <br /> • The first step is to have a design put together. <br /> • The Parks Supervisor, Steve Dazenski will create plans for replacement <br /> and provide them at the next Parks and Recreation Meeting on May 27, <br /> 2004. <br /> • The Finance Director will be questioned as to if donations to the parks is <br /> tax deductible. <br /> 5. Unfinished Business: <br /> a) Facility Guide Update—no new news to report <br /> b) Park Usage Survey/Data Collection—As of this date, no one has <br /> volunteered to assist the city in collecting information and filling out the <br /> Park Usage Observation Sheet. This request was included in the March/ <br /> April addition of the Mounds View Matters. The observation sheet along <br /> with a guidance information printed on the back are available at City Hall <br /> and on the City's WEB site. The Parks Department be hiring seasonal <br /> 1 <br />
