111/1
MEMO TO: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commissioners
FROM: Bruce K. Anderson , Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
DATE: March 24, 1982
RE: Monthly Report - March, 1982
The following issues or programs are outlined to provide the Commission
with a better overview of our department's day to day operations. Each
of the listed items are strictly information oriented and not intended
for formal Commission action.
1. Tree Inspector Certification - City Forester Wriskey and Director
Anderson attended a one day certification workshop on Tuesday, March 23,
1982 which is required by State law. You cannot have a sanctioned S.T.D.C.P.
1110
without certified inspectors .
2. Mimeograph Machine - The City Council recently approved the purchase of
a new Gestetner mimeograph machine and stencil maker. Our old machine was
approximately 10 years old and was no longer in good working order.
3. Softball Registration - Our adult softball leagues have completely filled
up and did so in less than one week for some leagues. It appears that we will
have our largest registration for softball teams ever in spite of stricter
player eligibility.
4. Winter Participation Report - Program Supervisor Saarion has included a listing
of program participation for our winter programs. Mary will be on hand Thursday
to elaborate or respond to any program questions you may have.
5. N.R.P.A. Law Review - Enclosed is a very timely report regarding the validity
of using non-residency requirements in municipal recreation. The article was
11111
published in the March, 1982 N.R.P.A. journal .
