11111016
MEMO TO: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: Bruce K. Anderson , Director
Parks , Recreation and orestry •
DATE: January 27 , 1982
RE: Monthly Report, January, 1982
The following issues or programs are outlined to provide the Commission
with a better overview of our department's day to day operations . Each
of the listed items are strictly information oriented and not intended
for formal Commission action.
1. School District #621 Summer School Program - Due to state budgetary
cutbacks , there will not be a summer school program during 1982 as
11111 - we have come to know it. Staff is working with the school district
and the four surrounding municipalities to explore any options of
joint programming to fill the void that will be created. There were
approximately 8,000 students involved in summer school in 1981.
2. Printing equipment - Staff has been meeting with a number of printing
representatives regarding the possible purchase of a new mimeograph
and stencil maker. Our current mimeo is broken down and the new
equipment will greatly enhance our printing capabilities.
3. March/April Newsletter - The next newsletter deadline is set for
February 3, 1982 with delivery planned for the homes the last week
of February. The major issue in the next newsletter will be 1982
budget and summer programs .
4. Adult Softball - With the advent of two new softball fields at Edgewood
Jr. High it appears that we will have adequate fields for the first time
in four years. Current plans are to play all adult games at City Hall
#1 and #2 and Edgewood Jr. High #1 and #2. By doing this we will free up
3 fields at Pinewood, 2 at Edgewood, and Hillview Park.
