f
111/1
MEMO TO: Moun s ,VieIW Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: StA f/
1
DATE: De diner $, 1981
,
RE: 1981-82 Budget Status
Yes Virginia, the State Proposed Budget Cuts are a reality!
Staff has enclosed a copy of the 1982 budget as approved by the City Council
along with copies of memos outlining some projected deficits for 1981 and a
memo from Finance Director Brager which outlines in more detail the "state of
the art". (no pun intended)
Staff would hope, should time permit , that the Commission enter into some form
of dialogue with staff regarding:
• 1 . The future of Parks and Recreation.
2. How the proposed State budget cuts will affect our department.
3. The proposed school closings (i .e. Edgewood and Red Oak) .
4. How the cutbacks will affect the athletic associations.
5. The Commission 's role (if any) in the coming tight fiscal crunsh.
6. Future improvements and maintenance of the neighborhood park system.
a. Silver View Park
b. Contracting for maintenance services.
Staff realizes that this is probably too large an issue to attack in one meeting ,
but feels strongly that discussion must be made in this area.
111/1
