MEMO TO: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commissioners
FROM: Bruce K. Anderson, Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
DATE: September 22, 1981
RE: Park Bond Referendum Update
Although it is a month past the August 18, 1981 election , staff has included
copies of the detailed breakdown by precinct of the election.
Staff has no additional comments other than the October 4 school district
referendum and current trend towards conservative economics appears to be
trends that will be with us for a while.
Two quotes from Socrates now come to mind;
1 . "If you don 't know where you' re going , any road will get you there. "
• 2. If a man does not know to which port he is sailing , no wind is
favorable".
The time has come, once again, to re-evaluate where we are and where we want to
go during the next five years . Issues staff feels the Park Board should pursue
include:
1 . Joint meeting with City Council .
2. Active development of a revised/realistic capitol improvement program.
3. Review of existing program to determine where reductions or cutbacks can
be made to meet the reduced staff and maintenence programs of the 80's.
This issue can never be resolved in one meeting , but will need continuous review
by Staff, Park Commission , and City Council .
