GIS Specialist <br />Page 3 <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee <br />to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be <br />made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed <br />in both office and field settings. Hand -eye coordination is necessary to operate drafting <br />instruments, computers, and various pieces of office equipment including plotter, light table, <br />blueprint machine, copier, etc. Field work includes sufficient mobility to navigate natural terrain <br />and construction sites, which may include rough ground. Visual acuity sufficient to evaluate field <br />conditions, construction practices, and work done and plans and drawings as necessary, as is <br />the ability to communicate orally in person and over the telephone. Specific vision abilities include <br />close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to <br />adjust focus. <br />While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear, <br />use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. <br />The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. <br />The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while doing field work. <br />WORK ENVIRONMENT <br />The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee <br />encounters while performing the essential functions and physical demands of this job. <br />Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the <br />essential functions. <br />While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in both office and field settings. When <br />in the field, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions, experiencing exposure to wet <br />and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical <br />shock and vibration.
