It was suggested that staff invite Zak <br /> Hansen to a future meeting to discuss possible <br /> cooperatives in making the park and the compost <br /> site more pleasing and to address the traffic <br /> pattern in the park. Staff will invite Zak /-11" <br /> to the March Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> meeting. <br /> GRANTS: Director Saarion announced that a new year of <br /> grants are being solicited by the State and <br /> recommended three projects including: <br /> 1. 50% match on the cost of purchasing the <br /> property next to Groveland Park. <br /> 2 . Park improvements for Woodcrest Park. <br /> 3 . Park improvements for the Golf Course open <br /> space, ie benches, dock, signs, etc. <br /> The Commission agree on these three projects for <br /> grant applications. In addition, staff informed <br /> the Commission that an application was being <br /> prepared for the off-street trail continuation <br /> • along Silver Lake Road from County Road H to Hwy <br /> 10. This is an ISTEA grant - for transportation <br /> alternatives. <br /> Also, staff informed the Commission that a CDBG <br /> grant was prepared for the paving of the Silver <br /> View Park pond path on the easement of Scotland <br /> Green Apartment Complex - as an enhancement to <br /> living environments to multiple family dwellings. <br /> OTHER <br /> BUSINESS: Commissioner Stevenson asked about the progress of <br /> the bicycle trailways - asking why the on-street <br /> bicycle trails have not been accomplished. Staff <br /> explained that the streets are under the <br /> supervision of the Public Works Department. It <br /> was suggested that the Director of Public Works, <br /> Mike Ulrich, be invited to the next Commission <br /> meeting so that the Commission can discuss with <br /> him their requests regarding on-street bikeways. <br /> In addition, the Commission wants to discuss the <br /> Ardan Avenue road improvements as it poses a <br /> possibility to plan an off-street trailway along <br /> with the project. Staff will invite Mike Ulrich <br /> to the next meeting in February. <br /> iNEXT MTG. : Commissioner Long mentioned that the meeting in <br /> February is during school winter break and that he <br /> would be on vacation.
