• MEMO TO: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSIONERS
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR
DATE: FEBRUARY 6, 1995
SUBJECT: MVAA REQUEST
Ernie Lapore recently met with City Administrator Samantha Ordc ,r
and myself regarding MVAA's request that the City donate space to
build an equipment building, approximate size of 24 ' x 24 ' , or
similar in size to a double garage. MVAA has the money to build
the building, but they do not have land. They are requesting the
City to donate land for the location of the building.
One suggestion for possible location is the space at Greenfield
Park next to the existing single garage building housing the
sprinkling and electrical systems. The existing berm, portable
restroom enclosure and trees could be removed/moved. The parking
lot would provide adequate accessibility. Park Worker has
measured the site and there is enough space to allow a building
that size. The benefit would be that it is located at a field
that is almost exclusively used by MVAA and therefore is
considered a "home" facility for MVAA.
• Another space would be at the backside of Greenfield Park next to
the "Blue" playground equipment across from Oakwood Park on
Hillview Road.
Another possible spot would be between the large pine trees at
Hillview Park north of the hockey rink in the area of the sand
volleyball court.
There would be a possibility that a building could be located
east of the public works garage facility along Bronson Drive.
The land is flat, access would be good off of Bronson.
These are but a few ideas. Please come to the meeting with input
to this request. The City Council is awaiting your
recommendation regarding this issue.
•
