ML,MO T0:
FROM:
r;uws vlew Parks and Recreation Commission
Staff
DATE: May 23, 1984
SUBJECT; Bid Proposals for Random Park
Staff received five bid proposals that met specifications for
playground equipment at Random Park. The bid proposals range
from a low of $6,845 from Huilders Engineering Company to a
high of $10,800 from Nomily Recreations Company. Staff was
unable to copy each of the design forms that were submitted
as a number of them were on 24" x 36" copy. I will have them
availa6le with colored pictures at Thursday evenings Park
Commission Meeting.
In addition to the five bi proposals I have included a copy
of the Playgrounds for the 21st Century which wi11 give you an
idea of the philosophy and concepts that are currently being
discussed in professional journals regarding playground equipment
and ita role in society.
The Staff at this time has no recommendation reqardinq the
equipment for Random Park other than indicating that we had
a total of SB,000 budqeted for the equipment and there ia a
possibility of an additional $1,500 that could be allocated
towards this project. All the equipment proposals are fairly
similar and they meet the basic ciiteria that were drafted by
the Park Commission to include slides, platforms, and a variety
of related apparatus.
Should you desire to review the formal designs prior to Thursday's
Commission Meeting feel free to contact myself directly at 784-
3055, Ext. 41.
i-
t
