Honeybee -Keeping License Requirements: <br />1. Located on single-family residential properties. <br />2. Residents seeking approval to keep and raise honeybees shall submit an application, application fee and site plan. New permits <br />require a public hearing (notices will be mailed to all property owners within 350 feet of applicant's property) and approval by the City <br />Council. <br />3. Applicants shall provide proof of applicable training or provide a waiver indicating flow required experience has been obtained. <br />4. Hives shall only be located in rear yards and be set back at least ten (10) feet €rom the property lines and subject home, and at <br />least twenty-five (25) feet from any public trail or walkway. No more than four (4) hives shall be permitted. hive openings shall face in <br />toward subject property's backyard. <br />5. Licenses are valid indefinitely so long as the hives are operated continuously. License may be revoked or denied by the City <br />Council based on negligence or nuisance. In such event, the property owner shall be provided with an opportunity to be heard. <br />Licenses shall expire upon lapse in use for a period exceeding two years or upon a transfer of property ownership. <br />Additional Requirements: <br />1. A clean water source shall be provided on the property. <br />2. A beekeeper may receive a temporary allowance for an additional hive in the event a swarm is collected and until a new home is <br />found for the colony. In no event shall temporary allowance exceed six (6) months. <br />3. Equipment shall be maintained in good condition in accordance with accepted best management practices. Unused beekeeping <br />equipment shall be properly disposed of or stored indoors. <br />Licensees may periodically be asked by the City to update information that the City has on file regarding their application. <br />Questions about Application?
