•
MEMO TO: The Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: Staff
DATE: August 25, 1982
RE: Donation from Mounds View Jaycee Women
As can be noted in the enclosed letter, we received the donation from the
Mounds View Jaycee Women totalling $924.86. The request from the Mounds
View Jaycee Women was to have the money be allocated as follows :
1 . $500.00 for the glidder swing at Silver View Park.
2. $273.81 for playground equipment at Groveland Park.
3. A donation for a baby swing at Hillview Park.
Staff would concur with the recommendation regarding the glidder swing
at Silver View Park which was approved at an earlier date by the Park
• Commission and with the donation of the baby swing at Hillview Park
for $151 .05. Staff would like to further recommend that the $273.81 allocated
for Groveland Park be utilized to establish a sandlot volleyball court at
that site.
Staff's rationale for this recommendation is that the local residents have
requested a volleyball court and they currently play volleyball on a weekly
basis at the site. The $273.81 would only make a minimal improvement to
the playground equipment as there is no need for any one additional piece other
than possibly spring animals. The sand volleyball court could be utilized
immediately by the community and we would be able to construct it during the
coming two weeks to insure some play yet prior to winter.
Should you have any questions regarding staff's recommendation on the donation
feel free to give me a call at extension no. 41 .
•
