MEMO TO: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission
410
FROM: Staff
DATE: September 24 , 1985
RE: Spring Lake
Staff has been working with Councilmember Haake during the past
three weeks to develop a program to aerate Spring Lake during the
1985-86 season. At this time, the information is relatively
tentative, but it appears that Ramsey County will be providing a
portable aeration system at no cost, to Spring Lake during the
coming winter season.
In addition to working on the temporary solution, staff has been
in contact with the DNR to determine how we might best develop a
program for a permanent resolution to the low oxygen readings at
Spring Lake .
During the next two weeks, staff will be receiving additional
information regarding grants, through the DNR, for permanent aer-
1111 ation systems as well as finalizing information through Ramsey
County regarding the temporary portable aeration systems this
coming winter. A complete report will be forwarded to the City
Council for their review at the October 7 , 1985 agenda session
and a complete review of the report and direction by the Council
will be given to the Park Commission at the October Commission
meeting. Staff will be providing additional background informa-
tion verbally at Thursday' s meeting on this issue .
BKA/sll
